Alex & Mike met while working as EMTs together. Mike always worked 8am-4pm, and Alex always took over his ambulance to work 4pm-12am. They talked in passing for years but never actually worked together until September of 2020. Ironically, Alex was actively trying to give up that shift (and Mike is still glad she didn't). They had a blast for 8hrs, laughing almost the entire time.

Fast forward to the 2020-2021 Winter when Alex was going on a ski trip to Vermont with her brother and his husband. At the time, Mike worked for Mohawk Mountain as a ski tech and learned that Alex had never been skiing before. Out of concern for her safety, Mike gave Alex a ski lesson before she set off to Vermont. Things must have gone well since the next time Alex brought her best friend Katie to "take a ski lesson from Mike" (to scope him out) with her.

They've grown together as a couple, medical professionals and people. Through thick and thin (paramedic school, Alex's brain surgery, etc) they've become each other's soulmates and best friends. When it came time to "pop the question", Mike asked Alex to marry him on the same ski trail where he brought her for a lesson almost three years prior. She of course said yes, and the rest is history.
